I could go on and on about how there is simply no other party like it—which is true!—but the real thing that makes it special for me is the guys who attend.

Yes, there are body builders and models and porn stars. And yes, there are bears. But mostly there are just regular guys. Some are older and some are younger. Some are newcomers and some haven’t missed a single weekend in all of our fifteen years.

But what makes our group so special? Yes, we are pigs. We are intensely sexual, and creatively so! (Anyone who saw Spiderman in his assless spandex on night one can tell you that!) We are passionate and we are filthy. But we are also friendly, generous and genuine. And we know how to create moments of true intimacy, even in the midst of momentous group sex.

It's those moments of real connection—some fleeting, some long-lasting and renewed year after year—that make Wet 'n Hot truly extraordinary. I got to share a lot of them this year. What a wonderful thing in which to wallow!

In his posting last year, our co-founder Dan said that 'the pig community rocks' and he is so right. Wet 'n Hot makes me proud and happy to be a durty pig!

Rik

Please share your stories about WNH 15 (and read what others have shared) by hitting the comment link below!

WNH 14: The Pig Community Rocks!

I could recount the sexual experiences I enjoyed at Wet 'n Hot 14, but I will leave that to my fellow pigs who attended this year. Instead, I will briefly frame the event in a personal historical context.

When I left the corporate world 20 years ago to write the Waterboys magazine, host piss parties and devote my life to serving the pig community, it was a time when openly declaring that you were a pig was tantamount to being shunned by not only straight society but most gay men. I remember guys rolling their eyes as they walked past my booth at IML. The same guys would walk by half an hour later, without their friends, to buy a Waterboys magazine. The pig community has come a long way since then, but we still have a long way to go.

Over 33 percent of all teen suicides are known gay men and women who mistakenly believed the lies that society and their religions told them about how they were mistakes of nature. We must counter those lies with the truth that we pigs have come to know about ourselves: that we are unique and beautiful. We can only achieve personal happiness by embracing that truth. And as a community, we must help those among us who are budding pigs to embrace their inner pig initially as something positive, and ultimately as a gift.

Toward that end, the members of the pig tribe elected our first International Mr. Piss this year during Wet 'n Hot. Jake Wetmore embodies our shared values of pigginess, fun, camaraderie, inclusiveness, pride in being a pig, and raw masculinity. Jake is a perfect role model for young pigs, is someone whom we as a tribe can be proud of, and he possesses an intangible spark and graciousness that strike a resonant chord in the crotches and hearts of all pigs who meet him. Please support Jake and rally around him in his efforts to bring more pig fun into our lives, mentor new pigs, and raise the visibility of our community.

Wet 'n Hot 14 was an amazing communion of kindred souls and one damn piggy and fun event. I will leave it to you to write about your exploits, with pride.

Each and every one of you rocks! I am proud to be a member of the pig community and to be of service to it.

Dan

Be sure to click on the comments link below to see what other pigs shared about their experience!
